Music

The music program at Country Christian School not only gives the students a basic course in music theory and appreciation, but it seeks to instill in them a love of worship and the desire to use their talents in service to the Lord. Music that is learned in class is used in chapel services and productions such as the annual Christmas program.

Instrumental music lessons are available for students in fifth through eighth grades and include band, stage band, strings, concerts and competitions. The students in the upper grades have the opportunity to perform at our annual Christmas pageant with drama and singing.

Athletics

Students in physical education classes are taught a variety of skills and enjoy participation in various sports and games. Students may participate in sports after school as our teams play competitively against area schools in volleyball, flag football, basketball, track and field and softball. Participation teaches students how to face life’s challenges with courage, perseverance, and confidence. Fair play, sportsmanship, and Christ-like attitudes are emphasized.

Computer

Country Christian School offers a state of the art, fully equipped, networked computer lab. In addition, every classroom is supplied with two or three computers. A complete coordinated computer program is used from kindergarten through eighth grade, includes keyboarding skills, word processing, spreadsheets, data bases, Power Point presentations, and monitored Internet access.

Spanish

Learning a second language expands the mind and sets operatives that can be drawn upon for language study in later years. Country Christian School begins the study of the Spanish language in first grade. At the elementary level, phonics, basic grammar and vocabulary along with the Spanish culture are studied. In the higher grades, basic conversational Spanish is learned and finally, in junior high, the study advances to a full course of Spanish language.

Art

The art program at Country Christian School strives for children to learn to “see” the world God designed with amazement and enjoyment. Students are exposed to many various techniques and media including work with clay, sculpture, printing, and methods of drawing and painting. The art curriculum adds a dimension to the hands-on approach to learning.

Gifted and Talented Program

Students invited to participate in the Gifted and Talented program have been nominated by the previous year’s teacher using criteria for identifying a gifted learner, and have achieved a score at the 90th percentile or above on the SAT test as well as the Otis Lennon Ability Test. Parents pay a fee for this program, which meets once each week for second, seventh and eighth grades and twice per week for third through sixth grades. The class offers activities that stretch the mind and help the child think outside the box, challenging the abilities the child has been blessed with.
